Now, let’s talk about the food. At Wairarapa Bakery & Café, the menu is a delightful fusion of savory and sweet options that cater to every craving. If you’re after something crispy and delicious, you cannot miss their famed fried chicken, which one happy customer describes as the “best tasting in town.” The sandwiches are generously packed with fresh ingredients, delivering flavors that are both satisfying and invigorating — just ask Nardia, who praises their “soo tasty” creations filled with goodness.

The pastries, particularly the pies, deserve special mention. Flaky, golden crusts enclose a variety of mouthwatering fillings, from the robust mince pies brimming with thick gravy, to steak pies that promise big, tender chunks of beef. Reviews from patrons like Lester Jarrett highlight these indulgent treats as “delightful” and bring out strong cravings that necessitate a return visit!

Nestled in a communal seating area, the café is a perfect spot to relax and catch up with friends or simply enjoy a peaceful moment with your food. Thanks to its reasonable prices, you can eat well without feeling guilty about your budget. Justin Laven captures this sentiment perfectly, noting that despite the many dining options in Masterton, Wairarapa Bakery & Café is his go-to stop whenever he’s in the area.

And don’t overlook their beverages! The iced coffee here has earned rave reviews for its refreshing taste—just what you need to quench your thirst after a long day exploring the beautiful Wairarapa region.

Big fresh sandwiches and rolls, great choice of savoury and sweet counter food. Pies are great, mince pies have lots of thick gravy and mince, steak pies have lots of thick gravy and big chunks of tender beef. Great prices, friendly staff. Theres lots of places to eat in Masterton, but we almost always go here when we go over the hill, and look forward to it.

The sandwiches pies chicken chips are tasty and fresh, also reasonably priced... not flashy but tasty... the staff are friendly cheerful. I always enjoy visiting this cafe. Plenty of seats. I think custard pies are gross... same everywhere...should be illegal lol...

A friendly woman runs this business, good coffee. The wraps & salads are good, fresh. Last visit I had a chicken avo filled roll & a cinnamon cream donut with fresh cream, the roll & fillings were fresh, the donut itself was stale. Both were very big ... great if you like a generous serving, I didn't want dinner last night. Prices are cheaper than most other bakeries, but cakes are often stale & dry. My husband doesn't like it.
